blasts from the past

This past week I had the privilege of making up some unique items for a couple of acquaintances from WAY back in the day.  Ah, Facebook:  reconnecting us with people we haven't seen since high school (or in one case, elementary school!).

One friend had seen a cute tooth fairy pillow circulating around Pinterest that she thought would be cute for her friend's nursery.  She's expecting a little boy and is doing a monster theme, so she asked if I could make something similar, but in a throw pillow size.  We also decided to make it a slipcover so shipping it would be easier.  I'm loving how it turned out, especially since by changing the size and making it into a slipcover, I basically had to wing it and hope for the best!

I used a sturdy canvas for the body of the cover, and felt for the eyes and teeth.  The white felt is actually very stiff, so that way the teeth won't flop over.  When my friend wants to give it as a present, she just needs to get a pillow form and stuff it there in the front!  As my husband commented, it'll be like the monster ate the pillow.  :o)

Another friend is expecting a baby girl of her own and wanted to make some of those month-by-month onesies and shirts for her little one.  They're an awesome idea for photos to track how much your little one has grown from month to month!  I made up a variety of iron-on's for her; all she has to do is iron them on the garments once she's ready to snap a picture of her little cutie.

Yeah, the picture's a bit atrocious since I took it inside, plus I'm not sure why the circles for 3 and 8 are so curled.  They'll flatten out once she wants to iron them on, it's just funny that it happens!

Thanks for the projects, friends!!!  :o)
