ivey league preschool: just j!

This week was brought to you by the letter J!

Here's our collage for the week...turns out it was difficult finding objects that started with "J" in our collection of magazines, so we borrowed a few via the internet.

We also did the do-a-dot, play-doh mat, and patten block mat for the letter J.

We made a jellyfish out of the letter J:

Our bible story for the week was Joseph.  We read a few stories about Joseph's life in Caleb's storybook Bible, and talked about how jealousy can affect people's actions (since it drove Joseph's brothers to sell him into slavery).  We also talked about how God can help us forgive others, just like Joseph forgave his brothers.  We designed out own "coat of many colors" too!

Finally, we made Jell-O!  Caleb has never had it but kept asking about it, so I bought some strawberry Jell-O and he helped me measure the water and stir the mixture.  He kept checking on it all afternoon to see if it had jelled yet.

In the end, he didn't even like it that much!  Actually, in his words, "That Jell-O was a DISASTER."  Lately anything that's a minor inconvenience or tiny hiccup is a "disaster" in Caleb-world.  :o)

Our classical music this week was a collection of marches.  Caleb liked them a lot, especially the very first one, "The Ride of the Valkryies."  It seemed like a cool way to start each day of preschool!
